Since June 17,1969 when the Secretary of State of the State of Texas approved the charter for the Martin County Historical Museum we have led the effort to permanently protect the history and artifacts that tell the story of Martin County.
History
The Martin County Historical Museum is a non-profit education organization dedicated to the preservation and educational advancement of the history of Martin County. It serves as a repository of county artifacts and a primary vehicle of communication for its institutional and individual member in promoting excellence in the acquisition, care, exhibition and interpretation of cultural materials worthy of permanent preservation.
Our Mission
The Martin County Historical Museum exists to preserve local history and educate our citizens of our common legacy.
What We've Achieved
In conjunction with the Martin County Convent Board, have begun recording oral histories of Martin County.
Restoring the Connell House and improving the grounds to be used for special events.
Attempting to obtain more traveling exhibits in order to improve attendance.
New rotation of exhibits, we have so many items in archives that it will take us years to exhibit all of these items
With the generous support of the Stanton City Council we were able to add a new wing to the museum.
Preserve the historical artifact of Martin County and maintain the facilities.
